Frigid temps and maybe even snow could grace Lambeau Field when the Green Bay Packers (10-4) host the New Orleans Saints (5-9) on the Week 16 edition of Monday Night Football. These two teams are headed in opposite directions and the Saints are not only underperforming, but they’re also going to be playing with an injury-depleted roster. As a result, the Packers are huge -14 home favorites while the total is at 42.5 at the time of this writing.
As I noted in my Player Prop Picks article, the Saints can’t stop the run or run the ball themselves and that’ll be a major issue for them with Alvin Kamara out (among all of their injured starters) and with Spencer Rattler under center. New Orleans plays in a dome and traveling north to the frozen tundra at Lambeau will likely create an uphill battle for them.
Best Bet: Packers -9.5 & Josh Jacobs Anytime TD (+100, BetMGM)
Do I feel disgusted even considering betting the Packers -14? Yes. I just can’t do it. However, this should be a lopsided affair and I love the idea of teasing the Packers down to -9.5 while adding a Josh Jacobs ATTD to a two-leg SGP at +100. Green Bay has gone 7-0 SU and 5-2 ATS against sub-.500 teams this season while New Orleans has gone 0-4 SU and 1-3 ATS with a backup (Rattler or Jake Haener) at QB, so there are a couple reasons to like the Packers to cover at -14.
BetQL’s NFL Model projects the Packers to win by 13.5 points and Jacobs has found the end zone 13 times this season, including in five straight games (nine in that span) and in seven of his last eight starts. I think this is a great option in the hopes of doubling your money in this matchup.
