(SportsRadio 610) -- Texans running back David Johnson and offensive lineman Senio Kelemete, both of whom suffered concussions in their most recent game against the Jaguars, have been ruled out for Sunday's matchup in Cleveland against the Browns.

Neither player practiced this week, and coaches had indicated they expect heavier workloads for their backups, respectively.

Duke Johnson, who returns to Cleveland for the first time since the Browns traded him to Houston last year, will get the bulk of the Texans' carries.

Duke Johnson stepped in for David Johnson early in Sunday's game, showing some elusiveness and burst the run game is often lacking.

Max Scharping, who started 14 games as a rookie last season but was benched earlier this year for Kelemete, is likely to play most of the snaps at left guard. Scharping just returned from the reserve COVID-19 list this week, after testing positive for the virus during the bye week.

Texans offensive coordinator Tim Kelly said Thursday that Scharping looks good in practice and he hopes he has a big game.

Second-year defensive end Charles Omenihu also has not practiced this week after suffering a hamstring injury against the Jaguars. He is officially listed as questionable for Sunday.
