The Texans are trading out of the first round of this year's draft for an extra second-round pick next year.
Houston was originally slotted to pick 23rd in this year's draft. It was a pick acquired from the Cleveland Browns in the trade for Deshaun Watson two years ago. They traded their own first-round pick in last year's drive to move up and acquire edge rusher Will Anderson Jr., who was the Defensive Rookie of the year.
For now, the Texans are no longer picking in the first round at all, choosing to instead move back into the second round. This could be an indication that Texans general manager does not see a significant different in the quality of player they could draft at No. 23 and who they could get at No. 42.
