Memphis Tigers: Cody Toppert Likely To Join Tigers/Hardaway Staff

Memphis appears close to hiring an assistant coach per Gary Parrish:

SOURCES: Cody Toppert has emerged as a strong candidate to join Penny Hardaway's staff at Memphis. Cornell graduate. Played professionally. Former G-League head coach. Was on the Phoenix staff last season in the NBA. Has a great reputation in terms of player development.

Toppert, according to 92.9 FM ESPN's John Martin, is expected to fly to Memphis today (6/6/19) and terms have been agreed upon. Toppert will replace Sam Mitchell on staff at Memphis with Penny Hardaway. John Martin also said on 92.9 Thursday (6/6) that Toppert turned down an opportunity to join the Cleveland Cavaliers staff to take the Memphis job.
