In front of 15,685 the Memphis Tigers started Lance Thomas, Precious Achiuwa, Lester Quinones, Damion Baugh, and Boogie Ellis.
Baugh struggled in 16 minutes going the game without scoring, while Boogie Ellis finished with 18 to support another stellar double-double game from Achiuwa (13 and 10). Lester Quinones led all scorers with 21.
Penny Hardaway needed this one and asserted to his team that every game is now a "tournament" game with Memphis firmly on the bubble not able to afford bad losses.
