The Memphis Tigers avoided the upset on Thursday night, pulling away late to beat East Carolina 78-72 and earn their 2nd conference win. ECU led by as many as 14, but the Tigers were able to knock down some shots to head to the locker room down only 4. The Pirates did not go away in the 2nd half however, as the Tigers led by only 2 at 72-70 with under 3 minutes left to play. But a strong 2nd half by Jeremiah Martin, Tyler Harris & Antwann Jones ultimately led the Tigers to victory to move to 2-1 in conference play.

Harris led all Tigers with 16pts, Kyvon Davenport finished with 14pts 11reb, Kareem Brewton Jr. with 13pts and Jeremiah Martin, Antwaan Jones, & Isaiah Maurice all finished with 10pts in the win. The Tigers are at Tulane on Sunday afternoon. Tipoff at 5pm on ESPNU.

Antwann Jones is doing everything for Memphis right now. Six straight points, got a block on the other end, just pulled down an offensive rebound and is going to the line.

Antwann Jones Jr., ladies and gentlemen. He freshman has taken over this game for Memphis with back-to-back 3s, a blocked shot and an offensive rebound. Quite the sequence.
