Could Dalvin Cook make his Cowboys debut vs. the 49ers?

Is it finally Dalvin Cook time?

After 105.3 The Fan's Shan Shariff reported Thursday that 'a little birdie' told him Cook would be called up from the practice squad within the next two weeks and likely would play Sunday vs. the San Francisco 49ers, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy was asked about the running back's chances of suiting up on Sunday when he visited with the media on Friday.

“I think the biggest thing for us is we’re taking the full week. Dalvin is ready. I really like the work that he’s putting in. … I think he’s definitely in position to (play)," McCarthy said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic.

Cook, a four-time Pro Bowler, has yet to appear in a game despite the Cowboys having the lowest amount of rushing yards (463) in the NFL through Week 7. Dallas' running backs are also averaging a league-worst 3.5 yards per carry.

Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones was also asked if Cook would make his Cowboys debut on Sunday but didn't want to give anything away.

"I know (the coaches) are going to make that call tomorrow," Jones said on the GBag Nation on 105.3 The Fan. "Dalvin's been doing his work week in and week out like the professional he is. I know one of the reasons we signed him is because (coach Mike Zimmer) had him in Minnesota. ... Mike (McCarthy) and (offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer) have been talking to us about it's about time for him to get his opportunity."
