It appears that the Dallas Cowboys are going to be without their top corner for an extended period of time.
After Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones told 105.3 The Fan on Sunday morning that Trevon Diggs would need "about" eight months to recover after undergoing a procedure on a 'significant' injury to his left knee, Jones said Monday that the team is hoping they see Diggs 'next year.'
"He was having to play with fluid in his knee. He was out there doing everything he can because he wants to play, he wants to compete, he wants to contribute. But unfortunately he (suffered) a new injury that has to do with cartilage. It’s certainly a very legitimate injury that’s gonna take him some time to recover from. We got a vision that we can get him ready to do next year," said Jones.
When asked if he could say exactly when he expects to get Diggs back, Jones said, "I don’t think he’ll be a player during training camp. I think his timeline is going to be right about the start of the season.”
Diggs ends his season with 42 total tackles and two interceptions.
