The Dallas Cowboys season was already off to a bad start. But now, it could be becoming a disaster.
Per a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Cowboys starting quarterback Dak Prescott is set to miss multiple weeks due to the hamstring injury he suffered in the team's 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
The injury occurred in the fourth quarter with Dallas trailing by two scores, and appeared to be a non-contact issue. Prescott went into the blue medical tent following a drive that led to a 57-yard field goal from Brandon Aubrey and was immediately ruled out.
Per the report, Prescott is expected to seek a second opinion.
When speaking with the media after the game, Prescott said "he felt something pull" in his hamstring.
"It was something I've never felt," Prescott said.
Without Prescott in the lineup, the starting role will presumably go to back up Cooper Rush, who came in to finish out the game vs. Atlanta on Sunday.
That said, Cowboys COO Stephen Jones did not rule out the possibility of Trey Lance getting the start either.
'We'll cross that decision when the time comes," Jones told K&C Masterpiece." Cooper did a great job stepping stepping in yesterday which he's done before... These guys have a lot of confidence in Cooper. At the same time we know we've got a young quarterback in Trey that did some good things as the pre season proceeded. But we feel good that we've got two good back up quarterbacks there if we need to address that."
