According to every host on 105.3 The Fan and all of the reporters who cover the team, one of the Dallas Cowboys' biggest holes to fill in the 2025 NFL Draft is the running back spot. However, Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones doesn't necessarily agree with that sentiment.
"I like what we did in free agency. Get some guys in and feel like we did that. We don't really feel like we have to pick a position anywhere in terms of our depth," Jones said Friday when asked by the K&C Masterpiece if the team is in a position where it needs to draft a running back. "That's how you make mistakes when you draft for need. ... We don't feel the need to have to reach and take a player down the line just because we need a position."
105.3 The Fan's draft insiders, Bryan Broaddus, Zach Wolchuk and Bobby Belt, have repeatedly said that the running back position in this class is deep, and Jones agreed with them on Friday.
The reality is that there is a high probability that the Cowboys will spend one of their next three picks on a running back, and Jones just doesn't want to tip their hand.
Dallas signed veteran running backs Miles Sanders and Javonte Williams in the offseason.
Jones also discussed if the 'substantive trades' Jerry Jones spoke about are still in play, why the Cowboys picked Tyler Booker at No. 12, and much more.
