Grizzlies vs Lakers Recap (Fri):
Memphis fell 128–121 in Friday’s first matchup in Los Angeles. The Lakers overcame an early deficit with a balanced attack, led by Luka Dončić’s 34 points and LeBron James’ 31 as Los Angeles pulled away late in the fourth. The Grizzlies fought hard, rallying from a double-digit hole and getting contributions across the roster, but couldn’t contain the Lakers’ late surge. Memphis dropped its third straight and struggled to close out down the stretch despite solid efforts.

James' 31 points was the most EVER scored by a 41 year old NBA player.

Looking Ahead to Sunday (Jan. 4):
Memphis and Los Angeles meet again Sunday (1/4/26), giving the Grizzlies a quick chance for revenge. After Friday’s effort, key storylines heading into Game 2 will be how Memphis adjusts defensively to limit Dončić and James, and whether Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. can lift the offense in crunch time.

The Lakers, with strong momentum and home-court in this two-game set, will look to exploit matchup advantages again.

Tune in Sunday on 92.9 FM ESPN for live coverage as Memphis aims to even the season series and turn the tide on LA.
