Grizzlies Acquire Mamadi Diakite and Draft Rights to Nemanja Dangubic from Brooklyn for Ziaire Williams and Future Second Round Draft Pick

Memphis, Tenn. – The Memphis Grizzlies today announced the team acquired forward Mamadi Diakite (MAH-muh-dee dee-uh-KEY-tay) and the draft rights to wing Nemanja Dangubic (nay-MON-yah dahn-GUBE-itch), the 54th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, for wing Ziaire Williams and a future second round draft pick.

Diakite (6-9, 228) has appeared in 55 games (six starts) and has averaged 3.1 points and 2.3 minutes in 9.6 minutes for the Milwaukee Bucks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Cleveland Cavaliers, San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks since he went unselected in the 2020 NBA Draft out of Virginia. As a rookie, the 27-year-old Guinea native won an NBA championship as a member of the 2020-21 Bucks.

Williams (6-9, 185) appeared in 150 games (50 starts) and averaged 7.5 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 19.6 minutes after he was drafted 10th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft out of Stanford. The 22-year-old California native also competed in 14 playoff games (one start) for the Grizzlies.
