The Memphis Grizzlies couldn’t recover from a decisive third quarter run, falling 124-101 to the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday night at Spectrum Center.
Charlotte took control early and never looked back, outscoring Memphis in every quarter and putting the game away with a dominant stretch after halftime. The Hornets shot efficiently throughout the night and capitalized on Memphis turnovers, turning them into easy transition points.
LaMelo Ball led the way for Charlotte with 29 points, knocking down seven three-pointers, while Brandon Miller added 22 as the Hornets showcased a balanced scoring attack. Charlotte’s offensive rhythm was evident in the third quarter, where they created separation and built a lead that Memphis couldn’t overcome.
For the Grizzlies, GG Jackson paced the offense with 19 points, while Javon Small added 17 and Taylor Hendricks chipped in 14. Memphis struggled from beyond the arc and had difficulty sustaining scoring runs, finishing just 101 points despite multiple players in double figures. The Grizzlies also had trouble on the glass and defensively, allowing Charlotte to dictate tempo for most of the night.
The loss continues a challenging stretch for Memphis, but Grizz losses is working towards a higher draft position according to Tankathon.
