The New York Knicks used a dominant first quarter and balanced offensive attack to defeat the Memphis Grizzlies 130-119 Wednesday night at FedExForum.
New York exploded out of the gate, dropping 48 points in the opening quarter to seize control early and never fully relinquish it. The Knicks led by as many as 18 and carried that momentum into the second half behind efficient shooting and strong ball movement.
Mikal Bridges led the way with 24 points on an efficient 9-of-14 shooting night, while Karl-Anthony Towns turned in a standout all-around performance, finishing with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists for a triple-double. OG Anunoby added 17 points and provided a steady presence on both ends of the floor.
Memphis showed fight throughout, putting together strong stretches in the second and third quarters and getting within striking distance late. However, the Grizzlies could not overcome the early deficit or slow down New York’s offensive rhythm. Memphis allowed 130 points and struggled to string together enough defensive stops down the stretch.
Despite the loss, the Grizzlies continued to show offensive flashes, but the inability to contain New York early proved costly.
