The Memphis Grizzlies were overpowered from the opening tip Wednesday night, falling 123-98 to the San Antonio Spurs at FedExForum in a game defined by a dominant first and third quarter from the visitors.
San Antonio jumped out early, outscoring Memphis 38-19 in the first quarter and never looking back. The Spurs blew the game open again in the third, pouring in 41 points and stretching the lead to 30+ after three quarters.
The Grizzlies struggled offensively throughout, shooting just 34-of-86 from the field and relying heavily on the three-point shot (16-of-50), but couldn’t match the Spurs’ efficiency or interior dominance.
San Antonio’s balance proved to be the difference, with seven players scoring in double figures. Victor Wembanyama led the way with 19 points, 15 rebounds, and seven blocks, anchoring a defense that consistently disrupted Memphis’ rhythm.
For Memphis, GG Jackson paced the offense with 20 points, while DeJon Jarreau added 15.
Ultimately, the Grizzlies couldn’t recover from the early deficit, dropping their fourth straight game as San Antonio controlled both ends and cruised to a convincing road win.
