Monday night (10/6) the Memphis Grizzlies suffered a 128-112 defeat to the Detroit Pistons, highlighting early defensive vulnerabilities despite a scorching start. Memphis jumped to a 21-point lead in the first quarter, sinking nine of their first 10 three-pointers amid Detroit's turnover woes. However, the Pistons erupted for 50 points in the second quarter, fueled by Cade Cunningham's 20 points and slick drives, erasing the deficit and seizing a 74-64 halftime edge.
Without stars Ja Morant (ankle sprain) and Jaren Jackson Jr., the Grizzlies relied on newcomers like Ty Jerome (16 points) and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (15 points), but 18 turnovers and fading perimeter defense proved costly. Detroit's bench, including Chaz Lanier (11 points), sealed the win, dominating fast breaks and second-chance points.
