2022 Salt Lake City Summer League Standouts include Grizzlies Williams and Tillman

SALT LAKE CITY (July 8, 2022) — The Utah Jazz announced today that Xavier Tillman and Ziaire Williams of Memphis, Josh Giddey and Chet Holmgren of Oklahoma City, Charlie Brown Jr., and Isaiah Joe of Philadelphia, and Jared Butler and Bruno Caboclo of Utah have received Salt Lake City Summer League Standout honors. Two players from each participating team were selected in this year’s Salt Lake City Summer League as Standouts, recognizing their performance in games played from July 5-7.

MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES

Tillman saw action in two games posting averages of 13.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists. The 23-year-old recorded a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds in a 95-84 win against the Jazz on July 7.

Williams averaged 17.0 points, 5.0 assists, and 2.0 steals in two games played, with Memphis going 2-0 in those games. In the team’s finale against Utah, a 103-99 victory, the Grand Rapids, Mich. native, notched 19 points and two steals.

OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER

Giddey posted averages of 12.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 9.3 assists, and 2.0 steals in three games played. The second-year guard recorded a triple-double against the Memphis Grizzlies on July 6 with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

Holmgren competed in two games for the Thunder holding averages of 17.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 4.0 blocks per contest. The second-overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft debuted with 23 points and seven rebounds while setting the all-time Salt Lake City Summer League record with six blocked shots against Utah on July 5. Holmgren’s 23 points were the most points scored during the three-day event.

PHILADELPHIA 76ERS

Brown Jr. appeared in two games for the 76ers owning averages of 13.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals. The Saint Joseph’s product notched 15 points, seven rebounds and two steals in Philadelphia’s opening contest against Memphis on July 5.

In two games Joe averaged 19.0 points and 3.0 steals on 9-of-16 (56.3 percent) from the field. The Fort Smith, Ark. native, closed out the Salt Lake Summer League with 19 points, four rebounds, and four assists while knocking down 4-of-6 shots from beyond the three-point line in an 80-79 come-from-behind victory over the Thunder on July 7.

UTAH JAZZ

Butler played in two games for the Jazz, posting averages of 16.0 points, 5.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per contest. The former Baylor Bear registered 22 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists against Memphis on July 7.

Caboclo logged minutes in two games with averages of 16.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 2.5 blocks per game while shooting 52.2 percent from the floor. The 2014 first-round pick recorded 17 points, seven rebounds, and three steals to close out the Salt Lake City Summer League against the Grizzlies on July 7.
