Memphis is favored (-6.5 as of Monday afternoon) against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane Football team in their game on Thursday (11/10/22) in Memphis at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium. Here's the game notes released by the University of Memphis in advance of the matchup:
SETTING THE SCENE
• The University of Memphis will host Tulsa on Thursday, Nov. 10 at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium. The game is set for a 6:30 p.m. kick and will be televised nationally on ESPN.
• This past Saturday, the Tigers fell to No. 25/25/25-ranked UCF, 35-28, in Memphis. Quarterback Seth Henigan completed 26-of-39 passes for 284 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, while rushing for a team-high 69 yards with a score. Xavier “Zay” Cullens had a game-high 13 tackles for theTigers to go with a sack and 1.5 tackles for loss.
• The Tigers have forced at least one turnover in 12 of their last 14 games, piling up 26 takeaways over that span.
• Memphis posted a record of 6-6 last season, earning the program’s eighth-straight bowl appearance.
• The Tigers were named the EasyPost Hawai’i Bowl Champions after Hawai’i was unable to participate.
• The eight-consecutive bowls streak is tied for the eighth-best in the nation and is the best among all non-Power 5 programs.
SCOUTING TULSA
• Tulsa comes into Thursday’s game with an overall record of 3-6 on the season and a mark of 1-4 in AAC play.
• Last Saturday, Tulsa fell at home to No. 19/21/19 Tulane, 27-13. The Hurricanes’ wins this season have come against Northern Illinois, Jacksonville State and Temple.
• Tulsa ranks 13th in the nation in passing yards allowed (176.4), 17th in red zone offense (.912) and 30th in passing offense (276.0).
• Prior to the season, Tulsa was picked to finish eighth in the AAC by the media.
• In 2021, the Golden Hurricane finished the year with an overall record of 7-6 and a mark of 5-3 in league play. Tulsa earned a berth to the Myrtle Beach Bowl, where the team defeated Old Dominion, 30-17.
INSIDE THE SERIES
• The meeting between Memphis and Tulsa on Thursday will mark the 32nd all-time game between the two programs dating back to 1961.
• The Tigers hold the advantage in the series, 19-12, and has a record of 8-5 against the Golden Hurricane in Memphis.
• Memphis has won five of the last seven games in the series and two of the last three contests at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.
• Last season, the Golden Hurricane defeated the Tigers, 35-29, in Tulsa. Quarterback Seth Henigan completed 34-of-57 passes for a career-high 463 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
