Ever turn down $1-Million+ Dollars? How about $1-Million Dollars to play baseball? Maurice Hampton Jr. (and his advisors/family) did back in 2019.

Why is this relevant? Hampton, who turned down a reported major league baseball (team) signing bonus in 2019 to become a two-sport athlete at LSU is returning to Memphis as a 2-sports athlete at the University of Memphis after spending a couple seasons at Samford.

According to Samford's baseball website Hampton Jr. had a solid baseball season in 2022 for the Bulldogs playing in 54 games while starting 48. He led the team in stolen bases (15) while batting .253.

FLASHBACK: Maurice Hampton Sr. joined the Jason & John Show in that summer of 2019 to explain why the family chose to go the "college route" and skip the immediate high-dollar payout. Worth noting that NIL wasn't in-play at that time, obviously.

FROM J&J, June 4, 2019:

Here's Jason & John to discussing Hampton and what it means for the Memphis Football program adding Maurice Hampton Jr. at the University of Memphis:
