Haggerty & #19 Tigers hang on to beat Rice 86-83

Sunday afternoon the No. 19 Memphis Tigers secured their fifth consecutive victory by defeating the Rice Owls 86-83 in an American Athletic Conference matchup in Houston. PJ Haggerty led Memphis with 26 points and eight rebounds, while Tyrese Hunter contributed 19 points and five assists. PJ Carter added 19 points off the bench, hitting 5 of 7 three-pointers, including crucial free throws with 4.2 seconds remaining to secure the win.
Rice's Trae Broadnax scored 19 points and provided six assists. Memphis shot 55% from the field and made 11 of 21 three-point attempts. The Tigers now hold an 18-4 overall record and lead the conference standings (8-1).
