Dainja Named American Conference Player of the Week
IRVNIG, Texas – Memphis men’s basketball forward Dain Dainja was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
It’s his fourth weekly honor of the season, but the first player of the week nod of his career.
Dainja led the No. 18 Tigers to a pair of wins over Rice (84-72) at home on Wednesday before going on the road to defeat UAB (88-81) Sunday afternoon in Birmingham.
The Brooklyn Park, Minnesota big man averaged 20.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steal per game while shooting 65.5 percent from the floor (19-29) in the wins.
He dropped a career-high 25 points with 10 boards and three blocks against the Owls, before turning in 16 points and a career-high 17 rebounds against the Blazers.
He now has three-straight double-doubles and is averaging 15.2 points and 7.4 rebounds in conference play.
Dainja's honor is the sixth AAC Player of the Week this season for the Tigers.

The Tigers will play two games in three days when they tip things off Tuesday night in San Antonio against UTSA at 6 p.m. They will then return home on Friday for the regular season finale, hosting South Florida on senior night at 8 p.m.
