Men’s Basketball Announces Home-and-Home Series with VCU
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis and Virgina Commonwealth University have finalized an agreement to play a home-and-home series, the two schools announced Tuesday. The Tigers will host the Rams next season at FedExForum on November 7, 2026. VCU will play host to Memphis for the return game at the Siegel Center in either 2027 or 2028.
The tip time and television network coverage for next season's game in Memphis will be announced at a later date.
Memphis holds a 6-3 advantage in the all-time series between the two schools which dates back to the 1975-76 season, with Tigers winning the first meeting 92-72 in Memphis.
Memphis and VCU completed a home-and-home series during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons. The Tigers won the most recent meeting on Dec. 6, 2023, defeating the Rams 85-80 in overtime in Richmond. Memphis also secured a 62-47 victory at FedExForum on Nov. 20, 2022.
Head coach Penny Hardaway holds a 2-1 record against VCU. His lone loss to the Rams occurred at a neutral site during the Bad Boy Mowers Crossover Classic in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Nov. 27, 2020 where the Tigers fell 70-59.
As a player, Hardaway also led the Tigers to an 85-58 victory over the Rams during the 1991-92 season.
