Tigers Deliver Most Complete Effort in 95-69 Rout
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Sincere Parker scored a season-high 22 points as the Memphis Tigers delivered their most complete offensive performance of the season in a 95-69 win over UTSA on Sunday evening at FedExForum.
The Tigers improved to 9-8 overall and 4-1 in American Conference play with their largest margin of victory this season. Memphis led wire to wire and pushed the lead to as many as 29 points in the second half.
Dug McDaniel added 18 points, six rebounds and six assists in a team-high 30 minutes. Curtis Givens III finished with 14 points, four rebounds and three assists, while Hasan Abdul Hakim chipped in 11 points, four rebounds and three dimes. Four Tigers scored in double figures as Memphis shot a season-high 56.3 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from beyond the arc.
Memphis also posted a season-high 23 assists on 36 made baskets and committed just 12 fouls, its lowest total of the season.
The Tigers took control late in the first half after UTSA trimmed the deficit to 38-33 with under a minute remaining. Parker scored five points in a 49-second span to help Memphis take a 43-33 lead into the break. The Tigers then opened the second half with an 8-0 run to extend the margin to 57-41 with 15:11 to play.
A decisive 12-0 burst late in the game put the outcome out of reach. McDaniel jumpstarted the run with back-to-back 3-pointers that pushed the lead to 90-62 with 3:08 remaining.
Dorian Hayes led UTSA with 17 points. The Roadrunners fell to 4-14 overall and 0-6 in conference play.
The win kept Memphis unbeaten all-time against UTSA and improved coach Penny Hardaway to 3-0 against the Roadrunners.
