Sincere Parker, 22, a senior guard who transferred to the University of Memphis from McNeese State, was arrested this past Saturday following a domestic-violence incident in late May. According to police, the alleged incident occurred on May 27 at the downtown Memphis apartment he shared with his girlfriend.
The victim reported that during an argument, Parker “pushed her, slapped her in the face,” choked her until her ability to breathe was impaired, and broke her iPhone when she attempted to leave. She sustained bruising, bleeding in her mouth, and broken acrylic nails, prompting her to stay elsewhere that night for safety.
A warrant was issued on July 18, and Parker was booked into the Shelby County Jail without bond. He faces charges including aggravated (felony) assault and misdemeanor vandalism of property valued under $1,000. His arraignment was scheduled for Monday, July 21st.
The University of Memphis confirmed being aware of the situation but declined further comment due to the active investigation. Parker had averaged 12.2 points per game at McNeese and was expected to contribute immediately to the Memphis program.
