Deals, Deals, Deals on NBA Draft Eve

Round 1 of the 2025 NBA Draft Wednesday night with coverage starting at 6:30 p.m. on 92.9 FM ESPN

There's lots of movement after earlier trades in the NBA on Tuesday that included:

1) Boston trading Jrue Holiday to Portland in exchange for Anfernee Simons and two future second-round picks. This move helps Boston save about $40  million in luxury-tax costs

2) New Orleans sending CJ McCollum, Kelly Olynyk, and a future second-round pick to Washington for Jordan Poole, Saddiq Bey, and the No. 40 pick in the 2025 draft

...two new deals emerged late Tuesday evening:

1) A 3-team mega trade with the Hawks acquiring Kristaps Porziņģis + second-round pick, the Celtics obtaining Georges Niang & second-round pick, along with Terance Mann and the #22 pick going to the Nets.

2) Kyrie Irving has declined his $43 million player option for the 2025–26 season and agreed to a new 3-year, $119-million dollar deal with the Dallas Mavericks, including a player option for 2027–28.

For the Grizzlies, it seems Dallas will be a bigger threat than imagined having the #1 overall pick likely landing Cooper Flagg. Also in the West, Houston and Portland are boosted by their recent moves. But much mystery still hangs around what Memphis will do with the #16 overall pick on Wednesday night (6/25).
