Fantasy football: Week 11 waiver wire, streamers and starts

They say fantasy football is a humbling game, which I suppose is one way of putting it. Experienced fantasy players are cognizant of the game’s ebbs and flows, the agonizing feast or famine quality that makes our preferred pastime such an emotional rollercoaster. The peaks and valleys usually balance out, but some weeks, the bleeding never stops. For me, Week 10 was a grueling game of duck, duck, cruel, a relentless bad-beat-a-thon where the hits just kept on coming.

Playing in SEVEN season-long leagues (hey, I’m not thrilled about it either) admittedly leaves me more exposed to the prospect of fantasy heartbreak than most, but even for a battle-hardened masochist like myself, this week’s unending gut punch parade was a bit excessive. We’re talking no moderation whatsoever. Tilt City is where I lived Sunday afternoon when Nick Chubb pulled a Todd Gurley, declining to finish the deed on a would-be touchdown sprint that had six points written all over it. Taking clock-killing to its logical extreme, Chubb tortured the masses by voluntarily stepping out at the one to conclude an epic 59-yard explosion, the fantasy equivalent of baking and frosting a delicious cake, only to trash it before taking a bite.

Hours after that injustice, DeAndre Hopkins pulled a fourth-quarter rabbit out of his hat, changing our perception of physics by securing a last-gasp Kyler Murray Hail Mary in a sea of coverage. What had the makings of a profitable DFS week for me was promptly dashed with Hopkins and Murray owners instantly surging to the top of contest leaderboards on the strength of one do-or-die play. Nuk’s catch was an all-timer, an immortal grab by a living legend. If it only it didn’t come at the expense of my FanDuel balance.

Last week hit like a ton of bricks, but hopefully Week 11 will be a more forgiving endeavor with touchdowns and yards galore. Speaking of Week 11, I joined Stephen Andress and Jordan Cohn to talk waiver adds, streaming considerations and players to target down the stretch on this week’s installment of the RADIO.COM Fantasy Football Show. Per usual, if you have any start/sit queries or need a second pair of eyes ahead of your league’s upcoming trade deadline, drop us a line in the comment section and we’ll be more than happy to weigh in.
