After an initial 7-0 deficit, Ohio State dominated, leading 31-7 by the third quarter. Quarterback Will Howard completed his first 12 passes, setting a CFP record, and connected with receiver Jeremiah Smith for a pivotal 56-yard gain late in the game.

Running back Quinshon Judkins contributed significantly with 121 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Despite a late surge from Notre Dame, Ohio State's defense held firm, clinching their sixth national championship.
