Miami pulled out a thrilling 31–27 victory over Ole Miss in the Fiesta Bowl to advance to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. The Hurricanes jumped out early with a 38-yard field goal and added two second-quarter touchdowns, including a 52-yard scoring strike to Keelan Marion to lead 17–13 at halftime. Miami’s balanced attack showed up in the box score: QB Carson Beck threw for 268 yards with 2 TDs, and the run game was strong with Mark Fletcher Jr. rushing for 133 yards. The Hurricanes’ top receivers, Marion and Malachi Toney, had big plays, finishing with 114 and 81 receiving yards, respectively.
Ole Miss stayed within striking distance thanks to Kewan Lacy’s 73-yard rushing TD and four field goals by Lucas Carneiro, keeping the Rebels close late. In the fourth quarter, Miami regained the lead with a 36-yard TD pass to Toney and sealed it with a late Beck rushing touchdown.
