(KMOX) - Back-to-back Gold Glove-winning second baseman with the St. Louis Cardinals Kolten Wong has reportedly signed a deal with the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Brewers, one of St. Louis' NL Central Division rivals, signed Wong to a multi-year deal, according to reports by Jon Morosi and Ken Rosenthal on Twitter.

The Cardinals declined to pick up Wong’s option for the 2021 season, letting him walk and become a free agent. The argument being in a non-COVID-19 world they most likely would have kept him, but no ticket revenue in 2020 has forced the Cardinals to make big cuts.

Last week it was reported that the Cardinals were not longer "actively pursing" Wong, reports the Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The move appears to pave the way to Tommy Edman to take control of second base for the Cardinals. He'll be in an infield that how has a total of 12 All-Star Game appearances, with Paul Goldschmidt (6), Nolan Arenado (5) and Paul DeJong (1).
