ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The St. Louis Cardinals rollercoaster 2024 season is almost at an end, with the Cardinals all but likely to miss the postseason in back to back seasons.

The St. Louis Cardinals started the season off very rough going 16-24 in their first 40 games which included an embarrassing series loss at Busch Stadium to the one of the worst baseball teams of all time in the 2024 Chicago White Sox.

But a terrific run by the Cardinals post-Mothers Day 2024 would see the Cardinals enter All-Star Break not only in playoff position, but some hope the Cardinals could catch the Milwaukee Brewers to win the NL Central.

However, the Cardinals could not keep that form up coming out of the second half, with a slow start losing 18 of their first 29 games to start the second half.

That slow run would all but sink not only the Cardinals dreams of winning the NL Central, but the Cardinals playoffs aspirations too despite acquiring starter Erick Fedde and outfielder Tommy Pham at the Trade Deadline.

KMOX Sports Director Tom Ackerman, an anchor on 'Total Information A.M.' and host of 'Sports On A Sunday Morning' and Kevin Wheeler, who appears regularly on 'The Dave Glover Show' weekday afternoons discuss what went wrong for the Cardinals in 2024 and how the club can improve in 2025.
