CBS Sports analyst Bryant McFadden joined Dukes & Bell and talked about visiting different training camps around the league, and whether Julio Jones has anything left or is he simply ring chasing in Tampa Bay?
When asked what Jones’ impact would be with the Bucs.
“The impact could be special. The reason why I say it, number one he has to be healthy, the last two seasons he hasn’t been healthy, different minor injuries has really impacted his production so that’s the one if,” McFadden said. “If he is healthy, I think he will do nice things in Tampa, the main reason is because of the quarterback.
"Tom Brady, the type of affect he has on people, when they go to a team he is on, they get new found motivation. Because instantly you know you’re competing for a championship and Julio Jones is at the end of his career so whatever he has left in his tank it is put on notice because he is playing a Super Bowl caliber quarterback, on a Super Bowl caliber team.”
McFadden talked about how Jones could fit in with the other weapons the Bucs have.
“This could be an under-the-radar signing right now that could have a huge impact throughout the season," McFadden said. "Because when Chris Godwin is healthy, Chris Godwin is your number two, so you got a proven number one in Mike Evans when heathy Chris Godwin is a proven number two could be a number one also. They signed Russell Gage, gave him a nice contract from Atlanta, then you have Julio who you just gave $6 million to for one year with incentives that could increase that deal to $8 million. So now you look at their top four wide receivers, when healthy you respect all of them.”
