
"He's earned this opportunity," 92.9 The Game's Braves reporter, Joe Patrick, told Andy and Randy. "And it sounds weird to say that for a guy that was an All-Star last year."
Foltynewicz was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett at the end of June with a 6.37 ERA over 11 starts. Since the demotion, his ERA improved to 2.67 in the six starts he made for the Stripers.
"You've got to give him credit for performing well when that happened," Patrick continued. "Sometimes these things happen to good players and that doesn't always happen."
"I know a lot of people kind of want to hold it over his head a bit, the fact that he went down in the first place. He also deserves some credit for kind of working his way through that and earning this opportunity again."
