Atlanta Braves third baseman Josh Donaldson was scratched from Tuesday's game against the San Diego Padres due to right calf tightness.

Donaldson, who signed a one-year, $23 million contract with the Braves in November, missed three months in the middle of last season dealing with the same calf problems.

So how concerned should Braves fans be?

"It could be cause for concern," 92.9 The Game's Braves reporter Joe Patrick said. "The good news is that it's not the same calf that held him out for almost all of last season, but he has had trouble with his calf before."

Patrick said Donaldson's past injury issues are the reason the team only signed him to that short-term deal.

"When you make this investment of 20-something million per year, it's only for a year. You're not having to deal with these things long-term and trying to maybe hold him out of the lineup for longer than you would so that you're (not) thinking about his long-term productivity."
