The city of Atlanta – 17s everywhere, in fact – received a pre-MLS season gift on Tuesday when Atlanta United shut the door on FC Motagua, 3-0, in CONCACAF Champions League action to advance the Round of 8.
Next up… the Five Stripes’ MLS opener on Saturday in Nashville.
SportsRadio 92-9 The Game will not only travel a few hours north to broadcast the game Saturday, but we’ll hang out and tailgate prior to the match kicking off and also spend Friday at TailGate Brewery Music Row for an on-the-road version of Dukes & Bell followed by a special Stoppage Time with Mike Conti and Jason Longshore.
To commemorate Nashville’s MLS debut, TailGate Brewery will release a hazy IPA called Tenn SC (more on this later). While we’ll get to taste TailGate’s hazy IPA, we’d be remiss if we didn’t share the plethora of Five Stripes inspired brews from right here in Atlanta.
As Atlanta United’s inaugural season approached, Three Taverns teamed up with the supporter group Resurgence and created a beer with the team at heart. Resurgence was responsible for the “Rowdy and Proud” chant and Nathan Berrong, Three Tavern’s brand cultivator, said they “chose this name because not only is it THE chant associated with the club, but also a badass name for a beer.” Can art was carefully crafted with Atlanta United colors in mind.
Three Taverns has completely bought into the Unite and Conquer phenomenon, and Rowdy and Proud IPA is a perfect brewed emblem.
All Stripes was made in collaboration with All Stripes, an LGBTQ community supporting Atlanta United. All Stripes starts as hand-pressed apple juice that’s fermented with white wine yeast and then aged in rum barrels. Think dry, oaky, vanilla, and brown sugar hints with this one.
Reformation brewed Golden Spike in collaboration with the Esperanza Supporters Club. It is dry hopped with Loral and Citra and has notes of orange, melon, and grapefruit.
The inspiration for 2 Spikes came from Dry County's desire to celebrate Atlanta United 2 when the side moved to Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw, president of Dry County Brewing Company Trey Sinclair told 92-9 The Game. "We wanted to brew a beer that really celebrated the team, so we used grains representing team colors: Red Malt and Victory Malt.”
Dry County only makes 2 Spikes available during soccer season.
"We have loved serving as the official pregame and post-game spot for the 2 Spikes Supporters and all of the other awesome Atlanta United and Atlanta United 2 fans. We look forward to doing it again this year," said Sinclair.
Passionfruit, papaya and mango jump out in this tropical IPA with a soft and creamy mouthfeel. What’s extra exciting about this release? TailGate Brewery is packaging it in 12-ounce cans this year.
If you're coming to Nashville for the live broadcast of Dukes & Bell and a special Stoppage Time with Mike Conti and Jason Longshore, here's some information about TailGate Brewery Music Row:
