Braves insider Joe Patrick joined Dukes & Bell to talk about the Braves series in Chicago, what the team needs to add, and who could be on the trade market.

Joe said the game yesterday was sloppy all the way around.

“It was a really sloppy game.” Patrick said “You could tell Brian Snitker wasn’t happy with the way the game went down, I thought Bryse Wilson was ok, his stuff looked pretty good but the ball wasn’t getting hit super hard off him and hopefully it’s something he can build off of.”

Patrick talked about the void in the Braves rotation right now.

“There is a massive hole in the Braves rotation.” Patrick said “Right now you have to think the Braves are looking for starting pitching to bring in, even if Foltynewicz goes down and pitches well, especially when you’re dealing with mental issues because there’s no guarantee he will come up and be the same guy.”

Joe told the guys who the top starters on the trade market.

“The top two names are Madison Bumgarner, and Marcus Stroman.” Patrick said “It would take a lot to get Stroman in, but he’s a guy that Alex Anthopoulos would know because he drafted him, those are the two biggest names out there.”

When asked which Braves could be trade bait.

“Foltynewicz has shown he can be an all-star.” Patrick said “I think that makes him a really good trade piece, the prospect pipeline is somewhat top heavy right now for the team so if you trade those guys you somewhat deplete the pipeline because they’ve promoted a lot of the top guys who have really done well for them.”
