Former Dawg and current ESPN College Game Day analyst David Pollack joined Dukes & Bell to talk about the show’s trip to Athens this weekend and the UGA-Notre Dame game.
Pollack said Ian Book will be the key for Notre Dame.
“I think you could say Ian Book,” Pollack said. “He’s a guy at the quarterback spot who could give Georgia’s defense fits. He’s a running QB, he’s not a laser but he can get out of the pocket and make plays with his feet. Notre Dame is a team that plays really well together.”
When asked about Notre Dame’s recent failures in big games.
“Notre Dame is 1-18 against top-5 opponents since 1998,” Pollack said. “They haven’t lived up to it in big games. This is a big spot for Notre Dame. If you don’t think this is a big game for Notre Dame players they’ve been talking about this for weeks. They saw all the tweets from last year by the Georgia players when they were getting curb stomped by Clemson.”
Pollack told the guys this is Kirby’s best defense yet.
“This defense is better than any defense Kirby has had by far,” Pollack said. “You don’t have the star power, but what you have is four corners that can start at most places in college football. You’ve got 10 defensive lineman you can rotate in and out, you’ve got some young pups. Nolan Smith is a true freshman. I saw him bull rush an offensive lineman so hard he fell backwards on his head. they’ve got some young studs.”
