College football writer Bruce Feldman joined Dukes & Bell and talked about just how close Georgia was to making the college football playoff even after the loss to LSU in the SEC Championship.
The guys asked Bruce if he thought Georgia was close to being in the playoff.
“Not really, I think it would have been a real stretch if they would have had two losses.” Feldman said “Remember one of those losses was to a horrible South Carolina team that was playing with it’s third string quarterback and that happened at home and you add on another loss to that, even if it was a close loss I think that’s a stretch considering Oklahoma is sitting there at 12-1 with a conference championship.”
Feldman told the guys if Georgia had won the SEC Championship, he could have seen a one loss LSU still getting into the playoff.
“It wouldn’t shock me if LSU had lost that game with them at 12-1, beating Alabama, beating Auburn and Florida I think they would have had a really good argument for that.” Feldman said “I don’t think Georgia with two losses even if it was a close one to LSU given who the other one was to, I don’t think the committee would have gone for that. the fact they were even talking about that all with Rob Mullens was kinda shocking, they got blown out of the building that night, it wasn’t even close so the fact that the committee opened that up was like what are they talking about.”
