Former Florida Gator and SEC Network’s Chris Doering joined Dukes & Bell.
Doering talked about the buzz around the Florida-Auburn game this weekend.
“You can feel the buzz leading up to the game already and it’s only Tuesday.” Doering said “I believe they are one of the best in the country, and they have the best defensive line in the country, and if you look at some of the that things Florida has had trouble with it starts with their offensive line. The offensive line was a question coming into the season, getting the running game going has been a point of emphasis in each game this year it just hasn’t been able to materialize and if you look at that matchup against a defensive line that should be better than them it’s going to be tough sledding getting it going.”
When asked about Florida Quarterback Kyle Trask.
“Very excited about Trask.” Doering said “Obviously it was a devastating injury to Franks but in this day and age in College football when you’re not playing at the quarterback position guys are so apt to transfer elsewhere, but to have a guy who has been around the program for as long as Kyle Trask has, to be as intelligent to prepare himself as a starter like he has leading up to the game in Kentucky where he was inserted into a late game situation it’s a luxury most teams don’t have. The thing I like the most about Kyle is he’s prepared, he understands the offense, he knows where he wants to go with the football and he does it decisively for the most part.”
Doering said he thinks UGA should take more shots down the field.
“I thought he was very solid.” Doering said “I thought the game plan was very telling about how the coaching staff felt the game was going to go with a lot of conservative passes. I really feel like Kirby and company didn’t feel like Notre Dame was going to have much success with sustained drives against that Georgia defense and the last thing they wanted to do was put their defense in a hole with a short field turnover situation. During the bye week I wanted to see more work on the down field passing game more vertical stretch there have been some shots that have been there that Fromm and his receivers haven’t been able to hook up on, so I think I would like to see a higher volume of throws down and I would like to see them hit them at a higher percentage.”
