The Braves game was rained out today which could be a good thing for the team’s bullpen as it gives them an extra days worth of rest, but what is the plan with the unreliable pen moving forward?
Carl said that adding a Craig Kimbrel would solidify a plan to finish games.
“The deal with getting a closer is it gives you a solidified plan of finishing games.” Dukes said “What is that plan right now with our Braves? I totally believe in getting Kimbrel, that’s the move, it doesn’t mean he’s not going to blow saves but you would have a guy who has 331 career saves compared to one who has 16 career saves.”
Mike talked about starters being allowed to go longer to keep the pen fresh.
“Unfortunately you lose Vizcaino, and this is why you had to be more active in free agency.” Bell said “You have no confidence in anybody coming out of the bullpen right now, it’s not good the only way you give them help is by not overworking them every game.”
