After Bryce Young, who are the best QBs in the SEC?

Stetson Bennett, Will Levis, Spencer Rattler all fall behind 2021 Heisman winner

The start of the 2022 College Football season in less than two months away, and the anticipation grows stronger with every week that passes.

The past few months have been one headline after another for the Southeastern Conference as recruiting, NIL deals, and coach’s comments have given football fans plenty to talk about while waiting for the action to begin in late August.

But, when the real action does kickoff later this summer, which QBs in the SEC will ascend to the top of the list as the best in the conference?

The debate for the best QB in the SEC starts and ends with Alabama QB Bryce Young, who won the 2021 Heisman Trophy and is predicted to be a top-3 NFL draft pick in 2023.

After Young, the debate on who is the second best QB in the conference has lots of names that can be mentioned.

When Chris Goforth joined the Morning Show with John & Hugh to discuss the upcoming SEC season, he had a few opinions about the SEC QB hierarchy

“I would probably put it at Will Levis (Kentucky), who put up really good numbers last year” said Chris when choosing who he feels is the second best QB in the SEC.

Levis finished 2021 with 2,827 passing yards and 24 passing touchdowns. Levis also provided some run game rewards for the Wildcats rushing for 376 yards and 9 TDs on the ground.

Chris also mentioned that several SEC QBs have been looked at as possible high draft selections according to a few 2023 mock drafts, although he may not agree.

“I’m not ready to put Spencer Rattler (South Carolina), Anthony Richardson (Florida) or Will Rogers (Miss State) in that category yet” commented Chris when going through the next level of SEC signal callers.

The one thing Chris was very sure about was, “the divide between No. 1 and No. 2 is pretty big.”

SEC Media Days are scheduled for July 18-21 in Atlanta, GA with the season kicking off on Aug 27, 2022.
