After being counted out, Braves are thriving

The Atlanta Braves have been counted out multiple times this season, but they've never quit.

When Mike Soroka had a setback, people counted them out. When Marcell Ozuna was lost for an undetermined amount of time, people counted them out. When Ronald Acuña Jr. was injured, people counted them out.

Despite the various ebbs and flows of the season, the Braves have remained within striking distance and seem to be hitting their stride.

The offense is becoming a little bit more consistent, and the rotation has solidified a bit with efforts recently from Charlie Morton, Kyle Muller, Touki Toussaint, and others.

The Braves aren't where they'd like to be, but right now they'll take their current standing and hope to build from it.

92.9 The Game Braves Insider Joe Patrick speaks about the belief in the Braves clubhouse and why they feel good about where they are at.

"They know that the odds are stacked against them and that suits this team. They've thrived on that kind of mentality for the last three years," says Joe Patrick. "Last year when you lost Mike Soroka in the middle of the year everyone said it was over and then they kept fighting and clawing and won the division yet again. This team has used that underdog mentality to their advantage and that's the way they see things right now. I think this team really thinks that they have a shot.
