It’s the calm before the storm as the Atlanta Braves rest up ahead of their postseason run beginning next Tuesday with the NLDS. In the meantime, general manager Alex Anthopoulos—the architect behind the championship roster—has answered plenty of questions, including from 92.9 The Game’s Dukes & Bell, regarding the health of Spencer Strider, the moves he’s made to get the Braves to this point and other poignant questions that pertain to the upcoming stretch of October baseball.

So, when he joined The Steakhouse Friday morning for this week’s edition of ‘Buy or Sell,’ Steak Shapiro and Sandra Golden took the opportunity to switch things up a bit with the Braves GM.

After finding out what Anthopoulos plans to do with his lone day off before the postseason begins and his favorite spots to eat around Atlanta, Shapiro and Golden hit him with some rapid-fire questions about sitcoms, music and more before the conversation did eventually ‘shift’ back to baseball. With the defensive strategy set to fall by the wayside in 2023, Anthopoulos toed the company line with his response to a question regarding his feelings on the matter.

“I’ve got to be politically correct on this one, the league and the owners went with ‘buy.’ I’m trying to stay employed, so I going to ‘buy,” Anthopoulos said with a laugh.

As for the Braves team as a whole, Anthopoulos ‘sold’ on the idea that this year’s team is more talented at the start of the postseason than they were a year ago but did come back around after Shapiro brought up the notion of the youth movement on the 2022 squad. Speaking of which, Anthopoulos didn’t play favorites in the Rookie of the Year conversation, selling on the idea that Michael Harris had the award locked up over Strider.

Should the Braves and Dodgers meet in the NLCS, while Golden ‘bought’ Braves fans booing Freddie Freeman, Anthopoulos ‘sold.’ He explained his belief that the fans will be “polite” but also cheer if the former Atlanta first baseman were to strike out at Truist Park.
