The start of the 2026 MLB season for the Atlanta Braves appears to be trending in the wrong direction in regards to starting pitching.
After last week’s news Braves starter, Spencer Schwellenbach, was going to be placed on the 60-day injured list as he deals with bone spurs in his pitching elbow.
On Sunday, new Braves manager told reporters, pitcher Hurston Waldrep, is dealing with loose bodies in his arm and will visit with doctors to determine the severity and whether or not the right-hand pitcher may have to miss any time once the season gets under way.
“I want every team in this town to win a championship. I want every team in this town to spend as much money as freaking possible,” 92-9 The Game’s Mike Bell said on Tuesday as he explained why he believes the Braves have not spending for top of the line pitching has been a disappointment, particularly in the wake of last season’s injuries to starting pitchers and this season trending to get off to a rough start.
“They don’t spend the money on the pitching, you need more pitching because if you tax your bullpen and your bullpen gets worn out, it’s the chicken and the egg and once again, we’ll have to slap and hobble together mediocre free agents who eat innings and you’ll have to do it now,” Bell said.
