The Atlanta Braves dropped a heartbreaker Wednesday night, but did show signs of life in the game, and can win the series against the Phillies Thursday night to close out the home-stand. With a 2-9 start by the Braves, winning series is the only focus right now. The Braves played a close game versus the Phillies, ultimately losing 4-3 to the Phillies, in a game where they leave the bases loaded twice, and are only 1-5 with runners in scoring position. Starting pitcher Grant Holmes labored through 4 innings, giving up zero earned runs and striking out 6, but needing 104 pitches to do so.

The Braves have who they want on the mound Thursday, in Spencer Schwellenbach, who has been the team’s best pitcher thus far. This season will obviously not be the wire to wire 1st place finish of 2021, or the record setting season that was 2023, but it will be a season of grind, that will end up with a close finish in the National League as the Braves, and early World Series favorite, will have to fight to win every series. Help is indeed on the way, with the returns of Spencer Strider and Ronald Acuña Jr. imminent, so Braves fans need to buckle up, and enjoy what will be a roller coaster of a 2025 season. Abe Gordon and Beau Morgan discuss the Braves rubber match versus the Philadelphia Phillies Thursday night, and where the team goes from here.
