The Atlanta Braves are facing their first true test of the season. Their starting pitching has scuffled and their bullpen is depleted. It was highlighted most during the team’s 16-13 loss to the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
After going up 5-2 after one inning, starter Bryce Elder imploded for the second consecutive start and the bullpen leaked runs all night long. Dukes & Bell say it’s time to go get pitching help right now after Elder, Spencer Strider and the bullpen have struggled of late.
“You’re saving them for what, next year? This team is loaded. Go use your prospects, if you need to move Vaughn Grissom move him.
Eventually the farm system will reset. You’re in the window, the next three to four years to win World Series,” Mike Bell explained.
The Braves are still the standard in the National League at 61-32, but after dropping the series vs the White Sox before the All-Star break and now losing the first to Arizona, it appears the time is now to make a move.
