Braves season-high 6.5 games out of first and time is running out

The Braves lost to the Red Sox 10-8 on Tuesday night dropping them to 30-34 and a season high 6.5 games behind the first-place Mets.

There's no doubt that it's been a rough go for Atlanta this season with injuries to a number of key players, both starting pitchers and position players. But some of them could return a bit sooner than originally expected.

While the team has played well below average, the expectations overall haven't moved. This is still a team with World Series expectations despite their first-half performance.

92.9 the Game Braves Insider Joe Patrick discussed the options the Braves have to improve their team and if there are any impact moves to be made.

"If they want to make moves to try to get themselves in contention, they need to do it as quick as possible. Time is running out," says Joe Patrick. "The question I have is how much are you willing to give up to try to make yourself a team that is capable of getting into the postseason?"

"If you get into the postseason you give yourself a chance, but I wonder home much this team could realistically add during this trade season and really convert itself from the team we see now to a team that could feasibly win a World Series," wonders Joe Patrick. "That seems like a big stretch, not impossible if some current guys turn around their form, but where is Anthopoulos' risk threshold."
