As we reach the MLB trade deadline, it is looking more and more like the Atlanta Braves could be sellers, as there likely enough help out there that can dig the Braves out of the hole that they are in. But what do they sell? Marcell Ozuna is an option, as he is on an expiring contract. Chris Sale is another, as he has a year left of an affordable contract, but he was pitching at Cy Young level when he got hurt, and that should continue next season, so the price better be right!
Although there are a lot of click-baity headlines out there of the Braves trading their core talent, none of that would make any since. Where they do have some assets is the bullpen. Both Pierce Johnson and Raisel Iglesias are on expiring contracts, and can be expected to be moved to contenders, while there are a couple of other names that may garner some interest. That may make for a challenging second half for Braves fans, as Andy Bunker and Randy McMichael discuss where the Braves go from here.
