On Tuesday, Atlanta Braves All-Star outfielder, Ronald Acuña Jr. spoke for the first time since having his right knee examined and doctors confirming that the 2023 NL MVP has irritation around his meniscus causing him to feel some discomfort. The Braves took precautionary measures with Acuña, having him leave Atlanta’s spring training facilities in Florida to fly to California and have Doctor Neal ElAttrache, who performed Acuña's ACL surgery, examine the knee.
Alex Anthopoulos told media the Braves were confident that Acuña
would be available to play by Opening Day. Reports later said the outfielder would gradually increase baseball activities, but there are still concerns as to just how close to returning to action Acuña is. On Tuesday, the MVP told reporters he is “confident” he could play today if he was allowed and that ElAttrache shared the same sentiments.
“He said exactly what Anthopoulos said and what we had hoped was his case, that if this was regular season he’d already been playing,” 92-9 The Game’s Beau Morgan said on The Morning Shift Wednesday as he and co-host Mike Johnson reacted to hearing Acuña answer questions in regard to his status. “All of that is great to hear,” Morgan added.
