The Braves are 10-11 since the All-Star break, and have been very inconsistent. Atlanta has just not been able to find the rhythm they had in the month of June when they took over the mantle as the best team in baseball.
With a 70-40 record no Braves fan should be worried about the team at this point in the season, but it is fair to wonder why the team has been so inconsistent post All-Star break, and earlier today our very own Braves reporter and insider Grant McAuley told The Morning Shift that the Braves have “managed to kind of back themselves into a bit of a lull”.
When Tiffany Blackmon asked Grant where he falls between being worried about the Braves and thinking fans need to relax Grant said “Probably somewhere in the middle I think because you know I mean over the course of a long season and just we know how baseball is, you’re going to have some highs and some lows and right now I feel like the Braves have managed to kind of back themselves into a bit of a lull.”
Grant goes on to say “the Braves just had a homestand where they won five out of six, so it’s hard for me to hit the panic button, but you just like to see some more consistency and the elimination of a few mistakes that have been plaguing this club, particularly on the base pads and some defensively as well that have not helped out.”
The Braves went 21-4 in the month of June and didn’t lose a series for the entire month, and while it would be nice to see Atlanta revert back to that form that’s probably not happening, but it would be nice to see, as Grant said, a little more “consistency” down the stretch of the second half of the season.
