On Friday Nick Kayal (filling in for Andy Bunker and Randy McMichael) was joined by current Bally Sports South Atlanta Braves analyst and former MLB player, Nick Green, who was asked how Ozzie Albies can be a more impactful second hitter in the Braves lineup.
"Sometimes he gets a little bit over aggressive, and he just starts swinging at everything and that puts you in bad counts," Green told the Midday Show. "That kind of thing as far as being over aggressive hurts him at times."
Green mentioned he liked what he saw from Albies the last two outings, moving base runners with the base hits.
"I'm not worried about Ozzie. I think he's going to be fine. I would like to see him back down the aggression a little bit at the plate and be a number two hitter. For Ozzie to be successful in that two-spot, he's got to move runners like he did the other day. He's got to hit with two strikes; he's got to put the ball in play. He had a ground-out the other day with two strikes which was great...That type of stuff to me tells me Ozzie's maturing, and he's not necessarily going for those extra base hits...I'm not too worried about Ozzie right now,” Green continued.
Through six games so far this season Albies is batting .091 (2-22) with only 1 walk, 1 RBI and 1 run scored.
